Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya was founded in 1956 by late Her Highness Rajmata of Gwalior, Shrimant Vijayaraje Scindia. The Rajmata, a strong supporter of the cause of women’s education, felt the need of a premier institution in Gwalior where young girls would receive the best modern Indian education. The school embodies her dream of providing wholesome education in an increasingly competitive world.
The institution has been set up by the Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya Society, an autonomous non-profit foundation which is a registered charitable trust functioning through a Board of Governors. The members are of diverse standing and proven managerial ability.
